Nangpa Pass
Oct. 14th, 2006 04:08 pm...does it mean anything to you?
It didn't for me, until a few days ago.
It is just a remote mountain pass where a group of Tibetan civilians was trying to cross the border into Nepal, there were more than seventy people in the group, among them children as young as ten years old. They were shot at in plain view of foreign climbers staying in a camp near by.
Witnesses say the would-be refugees were shot at 'like dogs', shot in the back while they tried to find safety; at least two of them died: a 17 years old nun and a 13 years old boy.
At least ten children were captured and marched back, escorted by soldiers. They passed though the climbers camp, nobody did a thing.
China is now claiming the soldiers were attacked and had to shoot 'in self defense'.
