Good news: you've done a great job of incluing. I now know that it is set in Italy, in the present time, and I've already learned quite a bit about the main character. I still don't quite know her age, but that will come in time... I would guess anywhere from 30s to older, i.e. not a kid, but beyond that we can't tell yet.
Better news: I want to turn the page and find out what happens next.
Nitpick: The phrase "high school professor" doesn't work. High school is pretty much an American term (similar schools in the UK go by a variety of terms) but in the US (and even more in the UK) the word "professor" is used only for a university-level instructor whose job is "tenured" or at least tenure-track, i.e. at a relatively high level... and in the UK the term is even more restrictively used. Depending on whether or not this character is merely local color or actually someone who plays a role later in the story, i.e. how you want to present him and how much you want to draw attention to him, you may want to change this... either to "high school teacher" or "high school professore" (the last word in italics, signifying that it is an Italian term).
